The subscription carries over automatically
An existing F-Secure Mobile Security subscription works in Kiren without any extra steps. There is no new purchase, no code to enter, and no change in price.
Kiren has two subscription levels: Free and Plus. Every F-Secure Mobile Security user lands on one of them automatically:
- A paid F-Secure Mobile Security plan becomes Kiren Plus. All paid plans map to Plus, whatever the old plan was called.
- The free version of F-Secure Mobile Security becomes Kiren Free. It stays free of charge, with no purchase required.
Subscriptions purchased through the App Store or Google Play continue to be billed and managed there, exactly as before. Renewal dates and payment details stay in the Apple or Google account and can be reviewed in the store's subscription settings at any time.
What Free includes and what Plus adds
Kiren Free covers the on-demand checkers and device basics:
- Scam Scanner analyzes images for scams and deepfakes. A monthly scan limit applies on Free.
- Link Checker confirms whether a link is safe before it is opened.
- Message Checker analyzes a pasted text message and tells whether it is safe.
- Breach Check runs a one-time check of an email address against known data breaches.
- Device Health checks that a device lock is set and, on iPhone, that iOS is up to date.
- App permission analysis on Android, showing what the installed apps can access.
- Security and data breach news on the Overview screen.
Kiren Plus adds the always-on protection:
- Personal data monitoring watches emails, phone numbers, credit cards, and other details continuously, with full breach details and step-by-step guidance when something is found.
- Browsing Protection blocks harmful websites and warns about suspicious ones automatically while browsing.
- Message Protection filters harmful messages automatically.
- Device scan runs automatic virus and threat scanning on Android. On iPhone there is no virus scanning, as Apple does not allow it.
- Unlimited scam scans, with no monthly limit.
Getting started with Kiren
- Install Kiren from the App Store.
- Open Kiren and tap the "Let's get started" button.
- Sign in with the same email address that was registered with F-Secure Mobile Security. A one-time code is sent to that address to confirm the user's identity.
- Enter the code from the email. The existing subscription is recognized automatically, and full protection is active.
Signing in with the previously registered email address is the key step. It is how Kiren connects the new app to the existing subscription. If a different email address is used, the subscription is not found. In that case, sign out and sign in again with the address that was used with F-Secure Mobile Security.
A new app with a new look
Kiren is built around three main screens. Swipe left or right to move between them, or tap the names at the top of the screen:
- Overview gives an at-a-glance picture of overall protection, along with news about data breaches and scams.
- Activity holds the protection tools, such as the scam and deepfake image scanner, the Link Checker, Browsing Protection, Message Protection, and Device Health.
- You focuses on personal information, including Breach Check and the monitoring of personal data for breaches.
Because the interface is completely different from F-Secure Mobile Security, earlier instructions and screenshots no longer apply. For step-by-step guidance on signing in, setting up each feature, and finding the way around, see Getting Started.
